Milan and Switzerland Trip

If you’ve been following along, you may have seen we were in Europe for a couple weeks! Our first stop was Lake Como (see published post here) and our second stop was Milan before heading to Switzerland! I will cover everything about our Milan and Switzerland trip below and what I wore there!

If you have any questions at the end about our Milan and Switzerland trip, let me know in the comments!

Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms.

How to Get to Milan

We started out Milan and Switzerland trip by flying straight to Italy. We flew out of Orlando because the flights were cheaper than Tampa. If you take a look at google.com/flights you can plug in super vague terms to see what is the cheapest! For example, when planning the trip I put in flying out of Orlando the month of June and put Europe as the destination. I was able to see that there was a $250 flight to Milan, and that is how I decided where we were starting our trip!

If you can flexibly schedule vacation with your job, this is a great way to get the best deal (I am already looking at flights for $300 ROUND TRIP to Europe!!). Warning, Google Flights may or may not get you lost in wanderlusting!

Getting Around

The great thing about Milan, is that you can take a train or Uber from the airport to the central train station and then take the metro or Uber to where you are staying. We were too lazy to figure out the metro in Milan so we walked everywhere or took Airbnb!

Where to Stay in Milan

We did Airbnb for our entire trip. You can also do Home Away, but they didn’t have as many options. We stayed right in the City Center area, about 1 mile from all the high end shopping. If you are planning a trip, message me and I can give you our Airbnb host name!

Pro tip: be prepared to carry luggage up steps! There are not many elevators in Europe so understand when you book a place how many flights of stairs there are and if that is an issue. Luckily my husband was able to carry all the luggage for me.

Pro Tip: ALSO, there is not AC everywhere! If you are going during a hot month, be prepared for the heat or do your research to make sure you book a place with AC (not very common and very expensive). Or do what me and my husband did and knock yourself out at night with Melatonin (of whatever your preferred sleep aid is lol)

The Lotus Boutique Outfit

I wore this adorable outfit in Milan exploring all day from The Lotus Boutique (see my other post on Lotus here!). This skirt was so useful on the trip because I was able to make several outfits out of it. I brought a bunch of tanks, which are easy to carry because they take up little space, and paired them with the skirt throughout the trip. The button detail on the front is super cute. I will definitely be transitioning it into fall as well with mules and a light sweater or leather jacket.

This ruffle tee is so fun and would pair great with some ripped denim. Some other things I am loving from The Lotus right now are:

This adorable navy dress

Love Yo Self tank

Leopard slides – I want everything leopard right now!

After Milan we packed our bags and headed to Switzerland

How to Get from Milan to Switzerland

We took a short train ride from Milan to Lucerne. These are tickets you want to buy in advance since it’s a high speed train. Don’t worry about first or second class either, they are all the same. From there, we picked up a rental car and drove from Lucern to our Airbnb in Chesières.

It should have only taken a couple hours, but it ended up taking all day to drive because our car broke down! Even though we were in Switzerland, we were stranded in French speaking only country side. I was able to use some of the French I learned in high school which was pretty awesome.

The lakes are so blue! The car ride was amazing because we got to see all the gorgeous water!

Our place in Chesières was gorgeous, I mean look at these views! It was kind of dead in the summer since it’s more of a ski town, so there were not many people.

We had a great time exploring the little towns and just enjoying this view with some wine! It was definitely the most relaxing part of our trip!
