1 Month Without Shopping

1 month without shopping! 1 whole month! You’re probably thinking “This is joke right?”

I have teamed up with Sam from the Bargainhuntingblonde blog to cover our biggest feat ever – 1 month without shopping! We are going to post today on what we hope to accomplish and the benefits and do a post at the end about our experience! You can see Sam’s post about it here!

I know it might sound crazy to a lot of people that going 1 month without shopping would be any sort of challenge, but for me it truly is a challenge! If you are considering a “dry month” it definitely helps to have an accountability partner. Of course emergencies might come up that you need to bounce off your partner so they can talk you off the ledge “I found these Chanel flats on sale, omg should I get them??”

Why am I doing a dry month?

I just quit my job, YOLOOOOOOO

I am moving to Florida and will need to reassess my clothing needs based on new climate & new job

2 week trip to Europe planned = expensive!

I want to get more use out of what I already have. I feel like I get rid of things prematurely because I never got a chance to wear them a ton before their time was up (i.e. don’t fit anymore, out of style etc)

Also, I am tired of the whole buy return cycle. It takes too much time and I won’t have time during my move!

I am tired of decision making and evaluating each piece “Do I REALLY need this?” “Can I find this cheaper elsewhere?” “What will my cost per wear be?” And then the worst, trying to figure out why you were able to justify a piece when months later it’s only been worn once.

I have so many freakin’ clothes and shoes and bags and accessories that it’s overwhelming.

What I hope to gain

A new perspective of what I actually need and don’t need

Time back! Shopping takes up so much of my time!

Satisfaction of wearing what I’ve got

Confidence that it’s really not that hard to give up shopping (it sounds so scary right now!)

A better definition of my personal style. I don’t try to focus too much on a cookie cutter personal style, because after all style is what you make of it, and I buy what I like and call that my personal style. But, I also feel I am a little all over the place with style, making it hard to match items in my closet (and match my Insta feed lol I can’t believe I just said that out loud BUT FOR REAL)

If you want to see the results, check out my post here.

Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms.

Outfit Details:

Skirt, Tank, Hat, Bag, Wedges
