It is such an awesome feeling to be sitting here writing my first blog post (jump ahead to my 1st blog anniversary post here) and I am so excited you are here! I will start by introducing myself and how the idea for this blog was born.

How The Idea of My Blog Was Born

In the first quarter of 2017, I was immersed in wedding planning. Wedding planning was a great distraction to my otherwise boring job. After the most amazing wedding and honeymoon, I returned to work and life just felt very stale. I got a degree in engineering knowing I wanted to explore the business side, but still have the technical credibility. I always thought marketing would be my niche, so I applied to many marketing roles… and was rejected from all of them. Lame.

At this point I decided to take matters into my own hands and start taking marketing courses at General Assembly (if you haven’t heard of them, look them up, there are so many amazing classes on all sorts of topics!!!). I have really enjoyed learning about digital marketing and want to continue to learn. I realized even if I don’t love my job, I am happy overall if I am continually learning.

How I Turned My Passion Into Something

Determined to figure out my “passion”, I kept asking myself questions like “What do you like to do?” …. “What would you LOVE to do?”…. This question was hard for me to answer because I always dismissed my interests as shallow – shopping, eating, shopping, cooking, shopping, wine, shopping, cocktails, shopping, spreadsheets of all kinds…. oh and shopping. It should have been obvious that blogging would be a fun hobby that would help me to share my passion of shopping and food; after all I have followed numerous blogs for years and always enjoyed reading them. Once I realized OMG I CAN START A BLOG, the idea blossomed into action immediately and I started researching everything under the sun (I am an engineer at heart, remember?) about blogging, website design and photography. I have learned so much so far and am excited to learn even more about this process.
