Sharing all the details today on my Rhode Island weekend trip! It was a quick weekend and my first time visiting Rhode Island, but a place I definitely want to go back to and spend more time in!
If you’re looking for more travel ideas, check out my fun southeast vacation itinerary here.
Day 1: Travel from Dallas to Newport
Flights from Dallas to Boston are direct and super easy! The first stop on our Rhode Island weekend trip was Newport. We flew into Boston then drove 2ish hours to Newport. We checked into the Brenton Hotel and it was one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at! After checking in, we grabbed a drink at their adorable bar and went to check out the beautiful rooftop view. The Brenton is in the perfect spot on the water, and walkable to everything. There were 2 cookies waiting for us in our room when we arrived and a freezer full of ice cream on each floor! It was seriously amazing!
We got ready for dinner and walked over to Bar ‘Cino. Their grilled pizza was so good and we loved everything we ordered! I would recommend a reservation anywhere you are eating in Newport. We also wanted to try Giusto, but couldn’t get a reservation. After dinner, we grabbed drinks at the Vanderbilt hotel bar. I HIGHLY recommend trying this spot out for drinks. The atmosphere was very east coast old money with dark and moody decor. It was absolutely stunning. After that, we went back to the Brenton bar for a night cap.
Day 2: Explore Newport
After sleeping so well at the Brenton, we woke up and walked to Springline coffee. The water views in the area are beautiful and there’s plenty of seating!
After grabbing coffee, we got ready for the day and checked out of the hotel. The entire area is walkable, so we walked around and checked everything out. Newport is such a picturesque east coast town, everything was really adorable!
I got to live out my east coast style dreams in this Ralph Lauren sweater and stripe shorts! I am wearing a boys large in the sweater and my normal XS in the shorts. Both pieces are so cute and I highly recommend them!
Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms.

For lunch, we went to The Mooring and got a light lunch. It was pretty decent, but not my absolute favorite of the trip. For drinks after lunch, we visited Wharf Southern Kitchen and Whiskey Bar. The people watching there was perfect, and I loved their little outdoor bar area!
I had to stop into the Kiel James Patrick store and grab a Newport sweatshirt! Everything was so cute!
Day 2 Afternoon: East Newport
After exploring the town, we drove over to the Cliff Walk. There is plenty of street parking and the views along the cliff walk are amazing! The mansions were a sight to see!
I wore this easy and comfortable tee and shorts on our walk. The tee is amazing quality and I sized up to a small in it.

The Breakers mansion is along the Cliff Walk, and I highly recommend stopping there and touring it! We did the self guided tour using the app on our phones. After we wrapped up our day in Newport, we drove to Providence, which is less than an hour drive.
Day 3 & 4: Providence
The rest of the trip was spent in Providence. I didn’t take many photos, but Providence is really cute and there’s several colleges in the area. It’s very walkable too! We ate at Massimo, Bayberry and Hemenways and they were all fabulous! I enjoyed Providence, but if I had to do the trip over I would have spent the majority of the time in Newport.
I wore this adorable linen dress out in Providence and it’s the perfect summer piece for any event! The white linen was super east coast appropriate and I paired with a navy cardigan when it cooled down in the evening.
