Happy Sunday! The Anniversary Sale is almost here and marks the start of all things Fall!!! It is my absolute favorite time of year. What is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020?

The Anniversary sale happens once a year and it’s the best Nordstrom sale of the year! All of the early fall arrivals (and plenty of summer items) are marked down at this time. Nothing gets me more excited for my favorite season and fall fashion than this sale! I started shopping it years and years ago and very much look forward to it every year.

When Can I shop?

If you are a Nordstrom cardholder, you can shop as early as August 4th depending on your status. For everyone else that is not a cardholder, you can shop the 19th. Check your cardholder status here or sign up for one here!

The Nordstrom Anniversary sale preview is officially live online here!!! Right now we can only browse, and not make any actual purchases. I called my local Nordstrom and spoke to the store manager and she confirmed this preview is only 50-60% off the sale – so get ready for more when it goes live!

August 7 – Ambassador Early Access
August 10 – Influencer Early Access
August 13 – Insider Early Access
August 19 – Sale Opens to Public

There are so many items. How do I prioritize?

I always think of my purchases in terms of cost per wear. A $100 pair of jeans I wear 50 times is “cheaper” than a $30 blouse I wear once. Do the same thing with the sale and be realistic with what you will want and need this fall. For example, this year I won’t be purchasing jeans, heels or work related items since I am still working remote and live in sweats everyday. I will be focusing on some more loungewear and comfy around the house items. Another thing I need to mention, focus on the staples and high sell out risk items (I created a collage below of what sells out every year). Many of the one off items from the sale get marked down even further come winter because they haven’t sold. I try to focus on the things that I won’t find even cheaper later.

How do I shop the sale?

You can shop in store if your local Nordstrom is open. Most have limited hours, so check the status here and make sure you bring a mask if you shop in store! You can also purchase online and ship to your home, or do curbside pickup! 3 easy ways to shop and I usually end up doing a combo of them based on availability of items I want at my local store. If you go to your store, and they don’t have your size in something they can also order for you. Nordstrom has free shipping, which is one of my favorite perks of shopping their website online.

Save your double points day for when you plan to shop the sale (if you are a cardholder).

Buy multiple sizes if you are unsure. The worst is when something sells out after you purchase only to realize when it arrives in the mail it’s not the right size.
