I’ve been keeping a huge secret that I am so excited to share!!! We’re moving from Florida to Texas!!! Holy cow you guys, I cannot believe it’s happening!!!
My Story
If you’re not familiar with my story, I am going to give a quick recap! I was born and raised in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio and spent most of my life in Ohio. I moved to Columbus, Ohio to get my degree in Industrial Engineering from THE Ohio State University and it was the best 5 years of my life! After college, I always intended to leave Ohio, so I took my first job in Williamsburg, Virginia. Surprisingly, I was quite miserable and homesick my first year away from home! The homesickness was really shocking because I always felt like I was super independent. I told myself to stick it out for a year and sure enough, it did get better.
I then moved to Raleigh, North Carolina after my time in Virginia. It turned out to be a great move, because that is where I met my husband! We loved our time in Raleigh, it is a great city for young professionals. My job then relocated me to Asheville, and my husband’s job relocated him to Atlanta. Luckily, Asheville and Atlanta aren’t too far and long distance wasn’t so bad. We got engaged that year and I eventually relocated to Atlanta. We lived in Atlanta for 3 years and got married there. Atlanta holds such a special place in my heart because we have so many memories there (see my goodbye to Atlanta blog post here).
Tampa Florida
In 2018, we relocated to Tampa, Florida for work. We got to experience Florida to the fullest the last 4 years and I am so grateful for our time here (see all my travel posts in one spot here). We really did not love Tampa (too small of a downtown, not enough walkability, not enough good restaurants, not many young tech professionals), but we absolutely loved the rest of Florida. Florida definitely has a lot to do, the cost of living is great, and we plan to retire down here one day! This is the longest I have lived anywhere over the past decade, so I definitely am feeling all sorts of emotions about moving! P.S. you can find the mural location below here.
Onward To Texas
I could not be more excited to move to Dallas! We love living in a state with no state income tax and are so excited to go to a bigger city in another state with no state income tax! Dallas and Atlanta seem to have a similar housing market and cost of living, which is relatively less expensive when you compare to other big cities in the north and west. I cannot wait to live in a bigger city again, I missed it so much when we left Atlanta! We are such foodies too, so Dallas will be a dream!
Moving from Florida to Texas will be our furthest move yet (16 hours!) so it will definitely take some time to adjust. Even though this is my 6th big move, it still stresses me out every time because there’s just so much to do and coordinate. I will be excited to get the drive over with and set up our new place! I will definitely miss these beach sunsets though and am so happy I got to experience so many!
