Doing a Lululemon Groove flare review today! I am old enough to remember the “old” Grooves a decade ago that I wore almost daily in college. For the purpose of this post, I will be referencing the new ones on Lululemon’s website that are drastically different than the Grooves 10 years ago.
If you are looking for more Lululemon reviews, check out my Wunder Train leggings review here.
Lululemon Grooves range from size 0 to 20 and only come in one length (32.5″). Lululemon does hem for free, so if you need them shortened that is an option. If you need them shortened a lot, you will lose a lot of the flare so that’s something to keep in mind. The price ranges from $98 to $118. They are pricey, but something you can get marked down. The pair I have were marked down, however sizing goes fast when they are marked down. Just know Lululemon sale items are final sale, so you need to know your size before buying. They are all super high rise too (more on that below).
First up in my Lululemon Groove flare review, are how to wear them! The best thing about these pants, are they they look great with any top! I wear mine casually with a Define jacket or Scuba hoodie (check out my Define review here and my Scuba review here). I wear them to with any sort of crop tank (check out my Ebb to Street tank review here). They are very high rise, so they do work well with cropped tops. Since they are so high rise, I think the proportions work well with a crop top because they make your legs look super long.
Nostalgically, I love Grooves with Ugg boots and a sweatshirt to work from home in. Nothing more comfortable and I love that they are back in style!
Back in the day, I wore my Grooves to class, to workout and to yoga class. I basically wore them all day every day and for everything. Now, I don’t think I would wear them to yoga or to workout. I see a normal legging being better for that, whereas the Groove is better casually. The Grooves work perfect for me nowadays for errands and casual outings.
Lululemon Grooves are true to size for Lululemon bottoms and I wear my normal 4. However, they seem to have a lot of room, so I could probably go down to a 2 if I wanted to. They are super high rise, so I can’t see them working well with someone who has a really short torso. They go well past my belly button, which I am totally fine with, but I know that’s not for everyone. The length is 32.5″, so I will need to get them shortened about an inch. Back in the day I remember Grooves came in different lengths, which was really nice.
Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ (currently 115 lbs) and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms. I typically wear a size 4 in Lululemon bottoms and a size 6 in Lululemon bras/tops.
Outfit Details:
Top, Flares, Necklace, Earrings (c/o), Hat, Sneakers, Louis Vuitton Bag
I am sure my opinion is super controversial, but I am going to say no they are not worth it unless marked down! The old Grooves were so compressive and crazy flattering. These are Nulu fabric, which is SO soft and comfortable, but the flattering factor just isn’t there. I am hoping Lululemon comes out with Grooves in more compressive fabric in the future. I like Nulu because it is soft, but it is more delicate and does pill easy. French Press is the perfect shade of brown, which is why I bought these. I don’t regret them at all, but I don’t think I would buy another pair in this fabric unless I had to have the color!

Thank you for your feedback on these. I read review after review on the Lulu’s website and most girls only talked about the inseam and fabric and I really wanted info on the how they fit as a whole, fabric included. Your info was super helpful since I was in my early 20’s when the old ones rolled out. I too am glad they are back in style.
So glad I could help! I've been wearing them with uggs this winter and really liking them!
