Lululemon Align Tank Review

Today I am doing a Lululemon Align tank review! I struggled trying to figure out if this tank was worth it and what size to get, etc. So, I am breaking it all down here to hopefully help you out!

If you want more Lululemon tank reviews, check out my Ebb to Street review here.

The Align tank comes in 3 versions – cropped tank top, high neck tank top and waist length tank top. My Lululemon Align tank review covers the crop and the high neck. I have not tried the waist length yet, but plan to eventually. All 3 are intended for light support and have built in cups! Aka, you really don’t need to wear a bra with this tank. It is $68, so it’s pricey but it’s also something you can get marked down. I have bought all of mine on discount (just know Lululemon sale items are final sale, so you need to know your size). The fabric is Nulu, which is soft, lightweight and stretchy.

How To Wear

First up in my Lululemon Align tank review is how to wear the thing! If you’re like me and have a phobia of baring midriff, read below for all my tips on how to rock the look!

Now I will be the first to admit, I have never been a cropped top gal. I love the idea of them though and silently admire those to wear them all the time. I carry most of my weight in my stomach and even when I was 100 lbs, I still had a nice little pouch that made me never want to show midriff. 15 lbs later, I REALLY don’t want to show my stomach, HAHA! You won’t walk into my closet and find more than a couple crop tops! That said, the only way I will wear one is if only a little sliver of my stomach shows and there is no belly button showing. These personal requirements make it hard to find the right combo to wear a cropped tank with sometimes.

I see a lot of people rock Align tanks with denim, denim shorts, skirts, etc, but I personally like to wear them more athleisure style. I wear my Align tanks with high rise bottoms, like leggings and bike shorts. Align tanks are also amazing with zip-ups (like the Define jacket) and hoodies (like the Scuba hoodie). To lounge in, they are awesome with a high rise jogger.

Where To Wear

The Align tank is technically designed for yoga and is intended to give light support. I personally think the high neck version looks more “athletic” and the cropped regular version is more athleisure. That said, I wear both of them to do things like elliptical, cycle (I stick with the high neck for cycle), weight lifting, yoga and out and about athleisure style. I do NOT wear them for things like running, HIIT or anything intense!

Below I am wearing my Pink Puff Align tank with some Mulled Wine leggings out to lunch. I am loving this color combo!

Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ (currently 115 lbs) and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms. I typically wear a size 4 in Lululemon bottoms and a size 6 in Lululemon bras/tops.

Align Tank Sizing

On their website, for the Align cropped tank, it says sizes 0-14 are for A/B cups and 16-20 are for C/D cups. For the high neck Align tank, it says intended to fit C and D cups. I am a 32C and wear a size 6 in Lululemon bras (take their sizing quiz here.). Because I am a C cup, I found I needed to go up 1 size from my bra size in the cropped Align tank. A size 8 in the cropped Align tank fits me best!

Below you can see the difference in sizing. On the left I am wearing a size 6 and the right I am wearing a size 8. The 8 is less revealing, a touch longer and overall more comfortable for me since I don’t like showing much cleavage. For the high neck Align tank, my normal bra size works best (size 6).

On the left, I am wearing a size 4 (color is Pink Blossom) and right is size 6 (color is French Press). I prefer the 6! Still notice though how the 4 doesn’t give the dreaded armpit fat! Whoever designed these tanks is a genius!

Is The Lululemon Align Tank Worth It?

YES IT IS, but only if you’ll get enough use out of it! For me personally, it’s worth buying on sale if I love the color. I live in athleisure and am able to wear athleisure most of the time (i.e. work from home, errands, travel, brewery hopping, lunch, shopping, etc). Take an honest assessment of what you own and what you could pair the tank with and decide if it’s worth it.

From a material, fit, and colors standpoint, this tank is 100% worth it. Lululemon makes the most fabulous material and colors and this tank is so flattering – even for people like me who carry weight in their stomach and hate showing arms. What I love about it, is that it’s flattering and doesn’t create all sorts of back and armpit fat if you buy the right size. Coming from me, someone who hates showing their arms and shoulders, it’s a big deal to find a tank I’ll actually wear. I’ve lived in Florida for almost 4 years and still don’t own many tanks for that reason.

I have tried other athletic tanks and they are just not the same. The Athleta Conscious Crop has great reviews, but it gave me the worst uni-boob, flat chest and armpit / back fat situation. I LOVE that the high neck (similar cut to the Conscious Crop) doesn’t do that!!

Below are the crop tank in Pink Puff (size 8) and high neck tanks in Pink Taupe & Pink Blossom (size 6) with Wunder Train leggings in Vintage Plum & Swift Speeds in Brown Earth (size 4).

Below is the Pink Taupe tank with Vintage Plum leggings (check out my entire Wunder Train leggings review here).
