How to Style Velvet

Happy Sunday! Sharing how to style velvet today since it’s such a versatile fabric!

We had such a nice weekend, full of cooking and relaxing! I am sipping on some sleepy time tea as I am writing this, winding down the weekend. We are doing a dry January + no going out to eat so we’ve been spending a lot of time in the kitchen. I think we will break our rule for a day next weekend because we are visiting Universal Studios. We have passes left and forgot they expire after next week! I am excited to get back there, at a much cooler time of year.

Velvet has been going strong the past few years and become a texture I love to style. There are so many velvet pieces to style – hair accessories, shoes, dresses, skirts, blazers, etc. When wearing a velvet piece, I tend to keep the rest of the outfit more simple and let the velvet stand out. Below are some outfits I have styled!

Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms.

Velvet Dress

This Buddy Love dress would be wonderful for Valentine’s Day! I belted the middle and paired with easy black accessories. It fits true to size.

Navy Velvet Blazer

I love the long over sized fit of this open blazer. With the length, I wanted to pair with a mini skirt so that I didn’t look like I was drowning in it. It fits true to size.

Blazer (c/o), Bodysuit (c/o), Skirt, Sandals, Chanel Bag

Velvet Pants

How beautiful are these pants? I made a romantic Valentine’s Day look here with this lace blouse.

Pants, Top, Sandals

Velvet Pencil Skirt

This is a great (and comfy) piece for the office in the winter! Throw on a sweater and you have a stylish and easy look!

Outfit Details:

Coat, Skirt, Sandals

Red Velvet Blazer

A red velvet blazer is holiday ready, all the way from Thanksgiving to Valentine’s Day! It is a very versatile piece and looks great dressed down or up.

Outfit Details:

Blazer, Turtleneck, Denim, Sunglasses

Outfit Details:

Blazer, Turtleneck, Shoes, Sunglasses

Black Velvet Blazer

If you’re not ready to go with a red one, try a classic black! This is such a subtle way to incorporate a gorgeous velvet piece into your wardrobe.
