Fredericksburg Texas Weekend Trip

My first travel post since we moved to Texas is here (see my post about moving to Texas here) and I am sharing all about our Fredericksburg Texas weekend trip! What I didn’t know about Fredericksburg, is that there is a lot of German influence there. Between wineries, shopping and eatings, we had a packed weekend, so scroll below for the full itinerary.

If you’re interested in more travel posts, I have all of them right here.

Day 1: Travel to Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg is about 4 to 4.5 hours from Dallas. To break up the drive a little, we stopped in Austin for lunch on the way down. We stopped at Aba and it was amazing, I highly recommend. The restaurant itself was beautiful and the food is some of the best I’ve ever had. We got their short rib hummus, truffle baked orzo and ora king salmon. The rhubarb rose gin & tonic was also one of the best drinks I’ve ever tried!

It was pretty chilly, so I wore this cute sweater vest for a fresh spring look!

Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms.

After lunch, we went over to Orobianco Italian Creamery on the way to Fredericksburg and the gelato was amazing! I got the pistachio and it was so so good.

After Orobianco, we stopped at Barons Creek Vineyard and Altstadt Brewery before heading into Fredericksburg. Altstadt is the cutest German brewery, I highly recommend going! Barons Creek was just okay, and I wouldn’t go back just because the wine did not blow me away for the high price. This was the perfect leisurely way to get to Fredericksburg and have plenty of fun stops!

We stayed at Inn on Baron’s Creek and it was the perfect spot because it is right in the middle of all the Main Street attractions. I recommend staying near Main Street because of the walkability and there are many options! We spent some time exploring the little downtown area after we checked into the hotel and loved it!

Our last stop for the evening was The Stable Bar and I highly recommend this adorable and cozy bar! My husband and I were obsessed with the interior and it just had the cutest vibes.

Day 2: Wineries

We started with coffee at Kaffee Haus (which was so cute!) then lunch at Vaudeville (highly recommend).

Our first winery of the day was Augusta Vin and the wine was phenomenal and the views were amazing. It was such a great experience, despite being a cold and rainy day.

After Augusta Vin, we went to Signor Vineyards. I was a little turned off by this Vineyard because they wouldn’t let anyone inside unless they were a member. It was freezing and pouring rain and no one was there, so I definitely wasn’t happy they made us stand outside to drink wine. The wine was good, but Augusta Vin was definitely better. Signor Vineyards is super cute though and there are a lot of cute photo ops there!

After that, we went over to Das Peach Haus and I loved it there!!! It was so relaxing to sit and drink wine on the lake. We bought some wine, cracker and brie inside and sat outside and drank. There are a ton of fish in the pond, so we fed them crackers and brie and it was a lot of fun!

Our last stop of the evening was Otto’s, which has incredible German food. I highly recommend making a reservation there, it was the best food we had in Fredericksburg!

Final Thoughts

Overall our Fredericksburg Texas weekend trip exceeded my expectations! The drive from Austin to Fredericksburg is beautiful, I didn’t realize there were so many hills in Texas. I was super impressed with how cute downtown Fredericksburg is, how many wineries there are and the overall vibe. I already want to go back so bad because I felt like we didn’t get enough time to do everything we wanted! Another day would have been nice to do more wineries because I underestimated how long we would be at each stop. I felt like 3 was the perfect amount for one day to be able to do a tasting and relax while drinking wine. If you have any questions on things I didn’t cover, feel free to leave a comment or message me!
