B Ocean Fort Lauderdale Trip

Happy Sunday Everyone! Today’s post is all about our B Ocean Fort Lauderdale trip!

If you saw my Instagram posts the other weekend, we went to Fort Lauderdale for the first time since moving to Florida! I hadn’t been since college so I was super excited to go again! My husband just turned 30 and we decided to celebrate his birthday in Fort Lauderdale for a fun weekend trip. There is so much to do in the area, we could have easily spent a week there. Our B Ocean Fort Lauderdale trip was one for the books and full of great food.

Keep scrolling to see where we stayed and my favorite restaurants on our B Ocean Fort Lauderdale trip!

How to Get There

If you are in state you can easily drive! If you are out of state you might want to fly to save some time.

East Coast

From Tampa, you can drive on either side of the state and it takes about the same time. If you drive on East side, make sure to stop in Palm Beach for lunch. I have my Palm Beach guide here with a bunch of AMAZING restaurants.

Air

By plane you can either fly direct to Fort Lauderdale and take an Uber, or into Miami and rent a car!

West Coast

We decided to drive on the West coast through Naples and cut across the state. In Naples, we stopped for lunch and it was a great way to break up the drive. For food, we ate at USS Nemo on the way down and Tommy Bahama on the way back. USS Nemo was hands down one of my favorite restaurants of all time. The fish tacos at Tommy Bahama were also pretty dang good!

These are the fish tacos from USS Nemo, they were awesome!

This hot and crunchy grouper was absolute heaven on earth! I cannot even explain how good it is!

This pepper jelly calamari from USS Nemo is hands down my favorite calamari of all time.

We also stopped and did a little shopping at Nordstrom in Naples! I had to get the birthday boy some new shoes!

Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms.

Where to Stay

With it being peak travel season in Florida, resorts are EXPENSIVE. This time of year is really when everything is super pricy because of spring breakers. It is incredibly hard to find availability on the beach and I did a ton of searching.

B Ocean Resort

I am so happy we found B Ocean resort because it was in such a great location and directly on a private beach front. Check out more photos and reviews here on Trip Advisor. I could not even believe how great the price is for this type of resort and amenities. I just checked prices today and they are still really incredible for this time of year.

We absolutely loved our stay and couldn’t get over how quiet the resort felt even in the peak season. The rooms were gorgeous and clean and the view was phenomenal. It was super quiet at night also even though we were located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale.

I loved the location because we could get to all the restaurants we wanted to try very quick. I would definitely recommend B Ocean and I hope we get a chance to go back to Fort Lauderdale and stay there again!

B Ocean Amenities

With 4 restaurants and 3 bars at the resort, you really don’t need to go anywhere! If you are here with children, I would definitely go this route because parking is impossible in Fort Lauderdale. Even though we drove, we ended up Ubering to every restaurant we went to because trying to find parking was not worth the effort.

Super soft and comfy beds – this was my favorite hotel bed yet! It felt way more like home than being at a typical hotel so I got plenty of rest which is super rare for me when I travel.

The resort is right on a path along the beach and they have bikes you can take out on the path or around town. I wish we would have had time to do this!

There is also a fitness center (didn’t make it there lol) and spa on site as well as parking.

Water Amenities

The private beach is definitely my favorite part! If you check out the public beaches they get packed and parking is nearly impossible to come by. Private beach access is a must if you are staying in the area and plan to be on the water.

There are two pools at the resort as well. We hung out at the infinity pool on the ocean because there is an amazing bar right there that brings food and drinks all day. We started our trip with some amazing pina coladas from the bar and enjoyed the view!

What to Do in FLT

Beach and/or pool – There are a ton of public beaches to try out if you stay somewhere without beach access

Water activities – Tons of water sports to try and rental companies

Excursions – We looked into a dolphin tour or sunset boat tour and ended up not doing it, but there were a ton of great ratings on those types of activities!

Bike/walk on the beach – There is a fabulous paved path along the water for runners, bikers and walkers!

Eat – Our favorite activity in any location! Scroll below to see my two favorite restaurants in Fort Lauderdale.

And last, the ocean view from the room was absolutely gorgeous. We loved waking up and watching the sun over the water with some coffee in the morning.

There is a cute little spot downstairs to grab coffee in the morning. I got a really good cold brew!

I was completely obsessed with the iguanas running around everywhere! You don’t see that in Tampa!

Witnessed a beautiful sunset at Serafina! We ate there for dinner and it was hands down some of the best Italian I have had in the United States! The view outside was insanely gorgeous. If you make a reservation, specify you want to be seated outside!

This was my amazing mushroom truffle risotto!

And here is my hubby’s pasta!
