Asheville North Carolina Trip

We just got back from our epic Asheville North Carolina trip! Oh what a trip down memory lane, we had the best time!!! Did you know Chad and I used to live in Asheville? For those that don’t know – we live in Tampa right now, but lived in Atlanta, Asheville and Raleigh prior (we met in Raleigh and call it the city of love lol!).

I miss the Southeast SO FREAKING MUCH!!! We hadn’t been back to our old stomping grounds in 3 years! 3 whole years!!! So this Asheville North Carolina trip was overdue and it was amazing! Keep scrolling for a day by day of what we did, and all the food, beer and fun activities we recommend!

Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms.

Day 1: Travel to Savannah

To break up the drive we stopped in Savannah on the way, which is the perfect half way point. We have stayed in Savannah before and love this town for a good time! We like Savannah more for going out and Charleston better for food options, if you are thinking about planning a trip.

Read more about our time in Savannah here with a bunch of recommendations on where to go.

Day 2: Travel from Savannah to Asheville

The 4.5 hour drive from Savannah to Asheville isn’t bad at all! If you are staying in Asheville for the first time, I recommend staying near downtown. We choose an Airbnb about a mile from downtown that is a pretty easy walk.

To kick off our Asheville North Carolina trip, we stopped at White Duck Taco in the River Arts District. There’s a bunch of locations now but this spot is the original. They actually moved around the corner in 2019 in this location so it was our first time visiting this new one. There was a lot more parking and seating than the old spot, I was very impressed. White Duck was my favorite place to eat when I lived in Asheville and to say I was happy to eat their tacos again is an understatement! My fave is the shrimp and Chad’s fave is the gyro taco.

The old White Duck location around the corner from the new one, was home to Frankie, the sweetest black kitty. Everyone knew Frankie because she was always around and very social! The first thing I asked when we arrived to the new location was if Frankie was okay and to my absolute delight the guy said his manager took Frankie home and she is now an indoor kitty. I totally teared up because I know how hard her life was outside and I am so happy she has an actual safe home now. Definitely a huge relief and the highlight of our trip!

The First Evening

After White Duck, we went down the street to New Belgium brewery. They had expanded their location since the last time I visited and it’s absolutely gorgeous and impressive. The back patio has an amazing French Broad River view and there’s tons of space for dogs and children.

Of course the first day wouldn’t be complete without a visit to French Broad for some carrot cake. French Broad is SO good and an absolute Asheville must for dessert! It was the perfect day, I am smiling just thinking about it!

Day 3: Great Food & Highland Brewery

We started off the day with one of my fave brunch spots, Early Girl Eatery. Chad got the pork bowl and I got the fried chicken biscuit sandwich with gravy. Their biscuits are soooo good!

We then headed over to Highland Brewery, one of my top faves in Asheville. I used to live right next to it and go all the time! PS – these cowgirl boots are the BEST ever!! So trendy for fall and look adorable with dresses.

For dinner we ate at The Admiral, one of the best Asheville restaurants! We had an amazing steak there!

Day 4: Biltmore Estate

We visited White Duck Taco’s downtown location and then went over to Wicked Weed. After that we did a tour of the Biltmore and stopped at the winery after. The Biltmore is a must do on an Asheville North Carolina trip. Tickets are pricey, but worth it! The quote on the wall below from King Henry VIII says “Hops are a wicked and pernicious weed”. That is where Wicked Weed came to be and their best beer Pernicious!

I highly recommend checking out the garden too when visiting the Biltmore! Wear comfy shoes, because there’s a lot of walking! These cowgirl boots were so cute with this dress and very comfy walking around!

We ate dinner at Chestnut, one of the best Asheville restaurants! Their calamari salad is one of my fave meals of all time. We also got the fried green tomatoes and rabbit enchiladas and they were so good.

Day 5: Brewery Hopping & Grove Park Inn

We went to Sierra Nevada and had a great lunch! Then we went over to Hi Wire and Green Man for some beer before dinner.

We had dinner at Grove Park Inn, which has the most fabulous view in Asheville and is so close to downtown! It was definitely an amazing experience! Definitely make reservations well in advance to eat around the time the sun is setting. This boho dress was the perfect for the evening!

Day 6: Relax

We had a super casual laid back day and just walked around and ate at White Duck Taco! It was a great break in the week after all our fun activities!

Day 7: Addison Farm Vineyards

We started the day with Tupelo Honey for brunch and then walked over to Wicked Weed for some beer. Tupelo and Early Girl are definitely my top 2 breakfast/brunch spots in Asheville! After that we drove out to Addison Farm Vineyards.

Dress (c/o), Earrings (c/o), Sandals, Bracelets, Necklace, Sunglasses, Louis Vuitton Bag

Addison Farms has an amazing view and is family owned! We really enjoyed our tasting and brought some bottles home. The front porch has the most beautiful quiet view of the mountains.

Day 8: Travel from Asheville to Atlanta

We finished up our Asheville trip and drove to Atlanta to stay before making the trek back to Tampa. If you want to read more about our Atlanta weekend, click here!
