Sharing my 2022 recap today because I love having these posts to look back on! This year FLEW, and that’s probably because this was my biggest year of change. A lot of the pieces fell into place this year and I am so grateful!
If you want to go back and read my previous years, here are 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017.
Styledjen turned 5 this year!!! I literally cannot believe it and it was such a crazy reminder of how fast time goes! I had no idea when I made my blog on a whim one day that I would be doing this 5 years later!
My goal in the previous years were to spend more time on myself and real life and less time on Styledjen. I definitely did that this year, and loved the balance! I still post my outfits on Instagram, but I don’t spend any time on the app besides throwing a post up. Don’t get me wrong, I still absolutely love my blog, but I definitely am craving more balance since I also work full time on top of this. I also joined TikTok at the end of this year and I absolutely love TikTok! The app is way more fun than Instagram and much more addicting. I am pretty sure I spend at least 3 hours a day on there watching videos!
Okay where to even begin since so much happened this year! It’s crazy how I was sitting here writing this same post at this time last year with no idea what was about to unfold. My job in Tampa told us we would have to come back to the office a few days a week, so I started looking for a job at the beginning of the year and found a full remote one! I transitioned to my new job and could not be happier! Huge win! I will never go back to an office!
My husband also found a new job and that prompted our move from Tampa to Dallas! This was our furthest move yet and I am not going to lie, it was extremely tiring but so fun! We had been wanting to leave Florida for a few years and it was time to move on (check out that post here). If you’re new here, I lived in Ohio for most of my life and after college moved to Williamsburg VA, Raleigh NC, Asheville NC, Atlanta GA, Tampa FL and now Dallas TX.
One of my resolutions was to lose the 15-20 lbs I gained in 2020 when I started working from home. I lost the weight at the beginning of the year and am so proud of myself! I started working out for the first time in years last December and took a few months off when we moved. It took me a little bit to figure out a new routine here in Texas, but I am back to working out again!
We also traveled a ton this year, which I am truly grateful for. We went to Naples, Deerfield Beach, Universal Studios, Siesta Key, Fort Myers and Milwaukee (check out all my travel posts here).
This year was amazing and the really only negative, is that I am unfortunately still dealing with health issues. It took me several tries to find a knowledgable doctor here in Texas, but I think I found someone good and we are altering my treatment plan a little bit. I am going to continue to remain positive and have unwavering hope that things will get better!
This year was a big reminder of how much things can change in 365 days, so I have a ton of goals for 2023 and I will share a couple of them below.
My first goals in January are to do a dry January, no caffeine and no shopping. I want to cut back how much I am spending on clothes, so starting the year without shopping will be a good time to take a step back and wear what I have. I got bloodwork done and found that caffeine is a no go for me, so I plan to take 100 days off from caffeine. With alcohol, after the dry January I plan to do 100 days off from drinking at home. What that means, is after January I can have drinks when I am out to eat or on vacation. I want to reduce the amount of alcohol I drink and I consume the most alcohol when drinking at home over the weekend. By limiting my alcohol to when I am out, this will reduce my overall consumption.
And it wouldn’t be a blog post without an outfit! I wore this to lunch at Las Palmas (our favorite Dallas restaurant) and loved this cute shacket! Everything is my normal size.
Sizing reference: I am 5’4″ and typically XS in tops and 25 in bottoms.

I hope your health issues get resolved! And good look with the no shopping! I know you can do it!!! It's fun creating outfits out of clothes you already own.
